How did you end up working in personal injury law?

I started my law life as a civil servant at Manchester County Court. It didn’t take me long to realise it wasn’t for me! I started lobbying the solicitors who came to use the court & before long I joined Rowley Dickinson as a court clerk. They had a nationwide reputation as union lawyers, acting for injured members. They funded me through my professional studies and the rest is history.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

Knowing that I can make a difference. For example, I can never replace a missing limb but I can do my damndest to make sure that the injured person gets the very best medical help, aids and equipment possible to give them a fighting chance at living a full life going forward and that the compensation received is the very best possible settlement achievable.

Tell us something that you think most people don’t know about personal injury

That we’re not all heartless ambulance chasers. That there is an inordinate amount of hard work, dedication, passion, determination and drive that goes into every single case, no matter how large or small. Every case.

What’s your desert island read?

Wuthering Heights or Memoirs of A Geisha
