Need an Ibuprofen for that whiplash injury claim?

If you have suffered a whiplash injury, you may wish to make a whiplash injury claim for your injuries. Over time symptoms usually ease, but pain is often managed in the short term with anti-inflammatory pain killers such as Ibuprofen. While many people take the drug on a regular basis, they perhaps may not know much about how it actually works.

Ibuprofen belongs to a group of drugs known as NSAIDS or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It works by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for feeling pain called COX-2. By blocking this enzyme, the body does not register the pain and the muscles do not swell as they otherwise would. By reducing joint or muscle swelling and pain in injured areas, ibuprofen also eases movement allowing sufferers to carry on with day-to-day activities.

For a whiplash injury, Ibuprofen gels are an effective form of the drug and should be rubbed into the affected area according to the instructions on the medicine packet. Ibuprofen can take several weeks to help reduce inflammation but can reduce pain after just a few doses.

But, Ibuprofen is not suitable for everyone and you should check with your health care professional before taking it. Those who have had a previous reaction taking aspirin, ibuprofen or other pain relievers, have or have had kidney problems, have a peptic ulcer, are allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients in the medicine, have damaged or broken skin, have or have had asthma should always consult their doctor before taking the drug.

Ibuprofen may also interact with other medicines so if you are on other medication you will also need to seek the advice of your doctor before taking this drug.

If you are suffering from whiplash, you could be entitled to make a personal injury claim.
