Fun fairs and whiplash compensation - not much fun really

YouClaim could help you to claim whiplash compensation if you have been injured and you were not at fault. When claiming for whiplash compensation after riding a rollercoaster or visiting the funfair there are several things to remember.

Mild neck injury after a visit to the funfair appears to be a fairly common occurrence. A fairground ride such as the dodgems or waltzer will inevitably cause the rider to suffer a slight amount of pain or discomfort as you are intentionally subjecting yourself to a situation that will inflict violent movements to your neck.

If you go on funfair rides or ride a rollercoaster at a theme park you may well expose yourself to low velocity collision type injuries that may cause slight pain, but if the ride stops suddenly, through no fault of your own, you are likely to suffer a number of Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD). Neck pain, lower back pain and headaches are all associated with whiplash injuries and in some cases these can be severe and debilitating.

In one such incident, in Buckinghamshire, a Whirlybird ride stopped suddenly when a hydraulic fault caused a wheel to stop spinning, bringing the ride to a sudden, violent halt. Four people were taken to hospital with suspected whiplash injuries.

At a famous Staffordshire theme park around 30 people could have made whiplash compensation claims after a faulty carriage linking mechanism caused two Runaway Mine Train carriages to separate from main body of the train. The two loose carriages rolled back into the others causing a collision similar to rear end shunt accident.

It is the young and the old who are significantly at risk in these roller coaster accidents. Their neck muscles are not as strong as other riders and they will be more susceptible to hyperflexion and hyperextension of the muscles (as the head is thrown forwards and then backwards) when the impact occurs.

If the ride goes smoothly riders will be expecting violent jerky movements to the neck and spine, in a sudden impact accident riders are not prepared and studies have shown that the injuries become significant and substantial.

Claiming Whiplash Compensation with YouClaim

Severe whiplash can be life threatening and is not something that should be suffered as part of a day at the fun fair. Disc herniation and spinal chord damage can be permanently debilitating and will require swift and, sometimes, long periods of treatment.

A whiplash compensation claim could ease the financial burden on a family where someone has suffered a WAD or debilitating injury.
