Whiplash claim thrown out of court

A Lancashire woman has successfully defeated what she believes was a fraudulent whiplash claim for personal injury compensation.

The mother-of-one was taken to court by a man who claimed to have suffered a whiplash injury when her car rolled into his in a traffic jam in Warrington. She had been leaning back to check on her baby son when the alleged car accident happened and didn't even feel the impact.

The driver of the car, a large Toyota 4x4, contacted no win, no fee personal injury solicitors the next day to pursue a whiplash compensation claim, admitting he was hit at a speed of no more than 5mph but still insisting that he was suffering from neck injuries.

The young mother contested the whiplash claim and a judge at Warrington County Court subsequently threw the case out, saying there were a "number of unsatisfactory areas" in the claimant's compensation claim.
