How a man with whiplash injury made a successful whiplash injury claim

Thousands of people in the UK suffer whiplash injuries each year as a result of car accidents that are not their fault. We help many of these people to make successful personal injury claims against the person that caused the car crash and the resulting whiplash injury. Read about what whiplash is.

One such customer that we were able to help was a 31-year-old salesman from Essex who was involved in a car accident in March 2005.

Case study - rear-end car accident
Our customer decided to drive to Cardiff along the M4 in the evening because he was due to attend an early morning meeting the following morning. He was forced to slow to a crawl after coming upon a queue of traffic near the junction he needed to take.

Unfortunately, a van travelling behind him did not notice the queue until it was too late and did not brake in time. The van hit our customer's car from behind at a speed of about 25 mph.

Although our customer did not have any obvious injuries, he was taken to hospital for a check up and while he was there began to show the typical symptoms of a whiplash injury. He was signed off work for a week while he recovered. Read more about common whiplash injury symptoms.

In pain from his neck injury and annoyed at the time he would have to spend off work because he would lose any potential commission sales over that time, he decided to make a personal injury claim. He contacted YouClaim and told us what had happened.

We explained that one of our personal injury solicitors would take on his whiplash injury case on a no win, no fee basis and that he would be protected from costs at all times. He was pleased with this and asked us to represent him in his compensation claim.

Our customer gave us the contact details of the van driver that had caused the car accident and our solicitors started gathering evidence for his claim immediately. Initially, responsibility was denied by the van driver but a police report of the car accident showed otherwise.

Six months after the car accident, our customer was delighted to find out that our personal injury solicitors had negotiated an out-of-court settlement for 1,500. He received a cheque for the full amount in a matter of days.
