Midlands woman wins facial nerve damage claim

A woman from the Midlands has received a five-figure sum of car accident compensation for a rear-end collision in which she suffered nerve damage in her face.

The nerve damage injury, which causes the claimant's face to swell and become black and blue, has left the 36-year-old suffering from low self-esteem, a significant factor in the calculation of her car accident compensation award.

Her personal injury solicitor explained, "Our medical evidence was very strong but, despite this, the defendants did not seem to fully appreciate the devastating effect these injuries have had.

"With just hours to go before we were due to present our case against them to the judge, the motor insurers finally agreed to pay compensation.

"Prior to the accident [the claimant] was a very bubbly, outgoing person. She had a very successful career as a procurement manager for a textiles firm and her job regularly took her all over the world. She was also a keen sportswoman and played netball.

"As a result of the damage she received to her face, [her] self-confidence has been badly affected.

"She was unable to return to her original job and although two years on, she has now gone back to work, she has taken a lesser paid back-office role where she does not have to face meeting strangers and explain her appearance."

While the claimant offered some insight into what the car accident compensation settlement means to her, saying, Although I am reminded of the accident every time I look in the mirror or when I notice strangers staring at me, I'm determined not to let it get me down and the compensation settlement means I can now look forward and hopefully move on."
