Whole family suffers whiplash

John's story

"I had been planning to take the family on a trip to the seaside for weeks; we've got family in Plymouth and everybody was looking forward it. On the day of the accident we packed up the car, left our house in Watford and headed for the M25.

I wasn't driving for long before it started getting foggy on the roads. I put my fog lights on and kept myself a good distance from the car in front. Coming up to a roundabout I noticed there was a queue of traffic so I slowed down and put my hazard lights on to warn the driver behind me.

All of a sudden there was an almighty thud and my car was shunted forwards, straight into the car in front. I can't tell you how distressing it was for my children, aged 11, 9 and 7. We were all rushed to hospital.

We all suffered whiplash in the accident, my wife's and mine were much more severe than the children's neck injuries and we had to take several months off work to recover.
