Taxi passenger injury claims

Most taxi drivers are experienced and skilled motorists, but a combination of long shifts and infrequent breaks between fares puts them – and their passengers – at risk of injuries in an accident. This can happen in either a booked cab from a taxi company or a black cab that you have flagged down.

The last thing passengers expect when they’re sitting back, unconcerned with the toils of driving, is that they will end up sustaining serious injuries, but it is a real risk.

If you’ve been hurt while travelling in a taxi, we can help. Contact YouClaim today to see how much compensation you could claim for your injuries or any costs you’ve encountered as a result of your accident - just request a call back, chat online or give us a call today on 0800 10 757 95.

At the scene of a taxi accident

If you are involved in a crash while travelling as a passenger in a taxi you should, if you are able:

  • Take the name and address of the taxi driver, the name and phone number of the taxi company and the registration number of the taxi
  • Take the name and address of any other drivers involved, as well as the registration number of their vehicles
  • Take the names and addresses of any witnesses
  • Take photos of the scene as soon after the accident as possible

Things to remember

If you contributed to the severity of your injuries by not wearing your seatbelt then you may find the amount of compensation you can claim is reduced – but you can still claim, so get in touch.

If you find that the taxi driver involved in your case was uninsured, or that the vehicle was not insured, we can still make a claim on your behalf – tell us the details and we will advise on your chances of receiving a payout.
