Slip in a supermarket

In September 2005, we took a call from a 42-year-old Middlesbrough woman who had slipped on a stray grape whilst visiting her local supermarket. Here's how she successfully secured compensation.

Maria's story

"I always get my shopping done first thing on a Monday morning for the week ahead. I've been going to my local supermarket for nearly nine years now and I can honestly say that I never expected to have such a life-changing event take place there.

On the day of the accident I got to the store about 10am. I got a small trolley and went into the supermarket where I bought my local newspaper. I needed some fruit and veg so I parked my trolley next to the potatoes while I walked over to get a bag of apples.
