Woman's back injury accident litigation

A holiday injury claim has been made by a woman from Basingstoke who suffered a serious back injury in a slip and fall accident.

The claimant, who even before the accident was reliant on the use of a wheelchair for some of her mobility, was on holiday at a Cornish caravan park with her family. Prior to arrival she had been told that the chalet they were about to rent was wheelchair-friendly – however, the chalet had no wheelchair ramp, which forced the claimant to attempt to use the stairs.

As such, the holiday injury claim is being made for the injury the woman suffered as she slipped while trying to go up the stairs.

According to the accident compensation writ submitted by the woman's personal injury lawyer, she is now almost completely reliant on the wheelchair, has lost the capacity to dress herself, can no longer perform basic household tasks and is no longer capable of looking after her grandchildren.

Although the caravan park admits liability for the holiday injury claim, it contests the £300,000 settlement being sought by the claimant.
