Scottish driver contacts YouClaim after receiving whiplash injury
in car accident
Scottish roads bear witness to thousands of car accidents every year. Fortunately, many drivers and passengers walk away unscathed or with minor injuries such as whiplash but it is a sad fact that hundreds of people receive serious personal injuries or lose their lives as a result of incidents on the road.
If you’ve found yourself hurt because of a non-fault car accident, whether you were a driver or a passenger, you could be entitled to make a personal injury compensation claim with YouClaim.
All the way from Gretna to John O’Groats and from Aberdeen to Oban, YouClaim can help.
We work on a strictly no win, no fee basis and don’t charge a single penny for any of our services. On top of that, we also allow our customers to keep 100% of any compensation that they’re awarded, so you don’t have to worry about paying anything at any time.
A customer’s story
One man who took advantage of our service and was hugely glad that he did was 28-year-old Scott from Dundee.
Scott was driving home from visiting friends in Edinburgh when a car hit him from the rear whilst he was stationary at traffic lights. The bump didn’t occur at a great speed but his car nevertheless received some extensive damage. But it wasn’t just the car that was damaged because Scott immediately felt a sharp pain in his neck; he knew straightaway it was whiplash.
The car was still driveable and so after exchanging insurance details he drove the few miles back home. His neck became increasingly more uncomfortable during the journey and when he reached his house and got out of the car he realised he could hardly move his head.
He thought the pain and stiffness might get better after some rest and so he settled down on the sofa with an ice pack to watch an evening of TV. But at midnight his neck hadn’t improved so he decided to take a couple of painkillers, go to bed and see how it was in the morning.
Morning came and, far from having improved, Scott’s neck had become even worse. The stiffness had spread to his shoulders and the whole area was extremely painful. He arranged an emergency appointment with his doctor and, unable to drive, asked his girlfriend to drop him at the surgery. It didn’t take long for the doctor to diagnose a fairly severe whiplash injury, prescribe some strong painkillers and advise Scott to take two weeks off work.
Scott heeded the doctor’s advice and spent two weeks allowing his neck injury to recover. Whilst he was at home resting, losing out on his much-needed wages, he decided to find out if there was any way he could make a compensation claim against the driver of the car that had hit him and so logged on to the Internet.
He typed ‘Scottish injury claim’ into Google and came across YouClaim’s website. He discovered that not only could we help him claim personal injury compensation but also provide him with a hire car whilst his was repaired. Liking the sound of that, he gave us a ring and one of our friendly claims advisors talked him through what would happen next.
He didn’t believe that the whole thing was free but our advisor explained all about our no win, no fee policy and how he could keep 100% of any compensation awarded and Scott realised that there really was no way he could lose out.
So he asked our personal injury solicitors to take the case on, they agreed and, in the meantime, we arranged for a hire car to be sent out to his house.
All there remained for Scott to do was attend an appointment with a medical expert and so we arranged that and gave him plenty of notice of the date.
Our personal injury solicitors also contacted the insurance company of the driver that caused the vehicle accident and told them Scott was making a whiplash compensation claim. They had already spoken to the other driver, knew the details of the car crash and so admitted liability in order to avoid a court case.
They offered Scott just over £3,500 in personal injury compensation, which included £600 to cover his lost wages, and he decided to accept.
The whole process had taken up hardly any of Scott’s time and he received his damages without being required to go to court. A vast majority of YouClaim’s cases are settled without a court appearance and if one is required our excellent success rate just goes to show what a good chance of success you have.
