In fact, experts say that some SSRIs may increase the risk of persistent pulmonary hypertension by as much as a factor of six.

There may also be other complications associated with these drugs. As reported in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology American researchers have found that of 3,000 women who gave birth in one study, the rate of premature birth was significantly higher in those who had started a course of SSRIs during the second or third trimester of pregnancy.
