Personal injury lawyer issues skiing advice

The death of actress in Natasha Richardson in a tragic skiing accident in 2009 prompted UK personal injury lawyers to warn of the dangers inherent to the ski slopes.

Richardson, the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave, died after suffering a head injury in a collision while on the slopes of Canada. Although she was at first able to walk away from the scene of the skiing-related holiday accident, her condition soon deteriorated, and within two days she was dead.

At first glance, the likelihood of skiing injury appears to be relatively low, with an injury rate of around 0.3%. However, there are fatal accidents every year, making it essential that all skiers take every possible safety precaution.

Personal injury lawyer Christopher Moore comments, "This tragic accident highlights that whilst skiing is a fun sport, the injuries can be very serious and you should take legal advice if you have been seriously hurt in a skiing accident. From a financial point of view it just shows taking out insurance is essential because often the accident occurs abroad and the medical costs have been known to run into millions of pounds."

In fact, Richardson is not the first prominent figure to be killed in such an accident. Sonny Bono, Michael Kennedy and Doug Combs are just three other the notable names to have suffered fatal injuries on the ski slopes.
