The device works by having the user place a "slipper" onto his or her foot then moving it across a mousepad that sits on the floor. It is compatible with Windows Vista and XP as well as Apple Macs. It retails for around £100.
As well as perhaps appealing to RSI sufferers, particularly those with conditions so chronic they have been forced to claim injury compensation, the foot mouse may prove useful to disabled computer users who have no or limited use of their hands and fingers.
However, some have speculated that the device may only transfer the symptoms of RSI from the hands and arms to the legs and feet.
