When the personal injury compensation award was finally received by the mother she decided to donate the money to a worthy cause and gave the sum to a soldier who had been horrifically wounded while serving in Afghanistan.
The mother said, "I would rather have had nothing. All I wanted then and all I want now, is [my daughter] back."
