Everybody likes a party and no matter what time of year it is, women across the UK are spending their hard-earned cash on looking good for the weekend. Whether it's a short trim, a bikini wax or a spray on tan to dye for, salons everywhere are making us young ladies very happy indeed or are they?
Not one to think that a trip to the hairdressers could turn into a phone call to a personal injury lawyer, it's shocking to discover just how many accidents can happen when we put ourselves in the hands of the trained professionals.
Even if you've been saving your pennies for weeks to get that head of highlights, it could all go terribly wrong in just a matter of hours. If you want to reduce the risk of suffering personal injuries because of negligence, make sure you visit a salon where you feel totally confident in the staff.
We spoke a manager of a local salon, Sue Martin, about the issue of trust and this is what she had to say: "It's very important that our clients trust us and we want them to feel completely confident when they come to see us. After all, it's a special treat for them and a time to let them be pampered. We ensure that we hire highly-trained people who know their job 110%."
It's always reassuring to hear such words of wisdom from a salon manager and it makes us as customers feel confident when we put ourselves in their hands. The last thing you want is to be leaving the salon looking like a car accident in need of a personal injury lawyer.
We chatted to a young image conscious lady about visiting a beauty parlour and this is what she had to say: "I've been to numerous salons and thankfully they've all been ok but my friend had a really bad experience. She went to get some highlights done but she had a really bad reaction to the chemicals and her head swelled up. I know that she made a negligence claim because the hairdresser didn't carry out an allergy test first."
This is obviously an extreme case but there are plenty of such happenings taking place around the world, some of which can even be witnessed on the famous television show Judge Judy. And it's not just accidents that can happen with your hair, you can also suffer serious personal injuries when going to get a bikini wax.
Women all over the globe look forward to visiting their local beautician to get a bikini wax at the start of each summer; however, it can be a nightmare if it doesn't go right. We spoke to a young woman from London about a waxing disaster she experienced several years ago. She said: "While I was studying health and beauty at college, the other students and I would often practice on each other and one of the techniques that we had to practice was waxing.
"When the girl in my class put the wax on my bikini line it felt like it was burning. She quickly put the paper strip on and took the wax off but it left a sore mark for about a week. I didn't think about getting in touch with a personal injury lawyer or anything like that. I just saw it as minor burn injuries that would eventually clear up."
It can be easy to think that an accident might happen the next time you visit your local hairdresser but if you're worried about it too much you would never get your hair cut, have a colour or even wax you bikini line. Thank goodness therefore for the many professional and trained members of staff who can guarantee to make us look beautiful and best of all do it pain free!
