Taxi explodes into flames in passenger accident

London Taxi Cab

Taxis usually offer a safe alternative to driving and as a passenger; you expect to be able to reach your chosen destination without being at risk of a passenger accident. However, if the worst happens and you are injured in a taxi crash, you deserve to be able to make a compensation claim for the injuries you have suffered.

In April 2010, a taxi burst into flames after a car accident in Bournemouth. While the female passenger only suffered minor injuries in the taxi crash, had she not been quick to escape from the damaged vehicle, her injuries could have been far worse.

The Citroen Picasso taxi, driven by a 40-year-old male, was in a collision with a Seat Toledo on Saturday 24th April at the junction of Knole Road and Southcote Road in Boscombe. The junction is particularly notorious for car accidents and local residents have petitioned for a stop sign to help prevent against future accidents.

A retired head teacher who witnessed the crash commented, "That junction is an accident black spot. I don't know how many times the walls there have been knocked down.

"They need stop signs. There's a school nearby and you worry about the children."

Shortly after the accident, the taxi burst into flames just after the passenger and the taxi driver had managed to escape.

Another witness to the accident said, "The road was filled with smoke. The driver was stood away. He seemed a little bit shocked."

The road was closed after the accident while police and fire crews worked to extinguish the fire and clear the wreckage.

Neither of the drivers was arrested at the scene of the crash although it was not immediately reported whether either of them would be charged for the collision.

If the taxi driver was found to be at fault, the passenger could make a personal injury claim against him for the personal injuries she sustained in the accident.

If you have been in an accident, you could make a compensation claim for your personal injury. At YouClaim, our personal injury lawyers have the wealth of experience necessary for making a successful compensation claim.
