What this study sets out to discover is the level of trust across Europe in each country's system of justice. Taking its data from several existing sets of survey results, which include opinions on criminal law as well as on personal injury law, it draws what conclusions it can from this extrapolation while registering that the results must be taken with a pinch of salt, as the surveys supplying the raw data were designed to a different end.

The fairness of the system is generally well-respected, with belief in that fairness rising with the level of education of the person asked.
The trust levels in the UK are fairly average compared with those in other European countries; generally, it seems the Belgian levels of trust are lower than those in this country, and those in the Netherlands higher.
The authors conclude with a suggestion that the report can be improved by beginning a focused survey, rather than relying on previously gathered data. This, they argue, should have "a focus on issues such as equity and equal treatment, perceptions of judges and judicial decision-making, and relations between social, cultural and personal values in general and the perceived values of the justice system."
