No win, no fee case study - dog bite
Our customer lived in Manchester and had gone on a walk with his wife through his local park in January 2005. They had stopped to sit on a bench when a man walking his Alsatian dog came up the path towards them.

dog bite, no win no fee
As the man got close to the couple, the dog pulled the leash out of his owner's hand and suddenly leapt towards our customer's face, biting him several times in the process. The owner of the Alsatian quickly pulled the dog off the elderly man, who had suffered serious dog bite injuries to his hands as he warded off the animal.

The dog owner called an ambulance and tied the dog on his lead to a tree as he waited for the paramedics to arrive. He apologised for his dog's behaviour and gave his details to the shocked couple.

It emerged that the dog bites had caused the elderly man to suffer two broken fingers and serious soft tissue damage on his right hand. The injuries took over a year to heal to a satisfactory level but still caused the man some residual pain.

Soon after he sustained the dog bite injury, the man decided to make a compensation claim against the dog's owner because the incident had caused him a great deal of pain and discomfort. A friend recommended YouClaim and he telephoned us to find out more about what our no win, no fee policy meant and if we could help him.

We told him that our personal injury solicitors would be able to take on his dog bite claim on a no win, no fee basis and so he would not have to pay their fees if his claim was not successful. We explained that in addition to the protection given by the no win, no fee agreement, he would also be protected from all other costs and fees if he did not win his case.

We went on to say that if his no win, no fee claim was successful, he would receive 100% compensation for his dog bite injury and would not have to pay a penny. We said that his opponents would be responsible for all the costs and fees so he wouldn't have to worry about a thing. Read more about no win, no fee outcomes.

He decided to proceed with a no win, no fee claim and we arranged for his case to be taken on by one of our personal injury solicitors who had specialist knowledge of dog bite claims.  The particular solicitor who pursued the claim on the man’s behalf had extensive experience of dealing with similar incidents and had previously helped a number of dog bite victims win compensation.  His broad understanding of this area of the law played an enormous part in the success of the case and seven months later we were happy to forward the injured man a cheque for £7,000 of personal injury compensation.

He did not have to pay a thing when making his no win, no fee claim with us and received a cheque for the full amount of compensation promptly through the post.
