The passenger of a car which crashed in Scarborough recently is unlike to be able to make a whiplash compensation claim as the car accident was caused by a runaway dog.
The full-grown German Shepherd dog ran in front of the car as it was travelling along the A64 at around 9.20pm on Saturday 23rd January. The driver swerved the car in an attempt to miss the animal, but unfortunately it was hit by the vehicle.
A 21-year-old car passenger suffered whiplash injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Scarborough hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, the dog died as a result of its injuries. Police said it had been wearing a heavy metal neck chain, but had no other means of identification.
It is unlikely that the injured man will therefore be able to make a whiplash compensation claim for the accident as no-one has come forward as the owner of the dog.
