Woman relives roundabout car crash

A 34-year-old woman who suffered whiplash in a one-car accident in Scarborough has revealed the details of the lead up to the incident.

The driver flipped her car just by the Staxton roundabout, despite travelling at only 35mph in a 60mph zone.

She explained, "I was approaching Staxton roundabout and I know that's a bad bend, if you live here long enough you see lots of cars in a similar position that I ended up in. I was the only one in the car and I had slowed down for the bend. As I came around the bend the back end went out, I lost control, and I ended up on the wrong carriageway."

Her Citroen Xsara VTR was written off in the incident and, to make matters worse, it was her birthday. "I am not impressed with my birthday surprise," she said of her whiplash present.

Interestingly, another one-car accident happened at precisely the same spot only a few days earlier. "When I got out of my car I was standing on the broken glass from the previous accident," said the 34-year-old.

Although it is too early to infer anything from this detail, if any road design or road surface fault links the two accidents, it may be possible for the woman to launch a no win, no fee whiplash claim.

Can I claim?
