Utah personal injury lawyers build practice courtroom

An American firm of personal injury lawyers have built a replica courtroom for their attorneys to rehearse their compensation claims before going to trial.

The Utah firm has built the room from blueprints of actual courts in the US, and packed it with modern technology that not only allows them to make their personal injury cases in multimedia fashion, but allows them to eavesdrop on the 'rehearsal jury' to see how their presentation is received.

The firm insists that this is simply a method to promote excellence in its presentation skills. As similar technology is beginning to be installed in Utah courts, allowing a jury to see these multimedia effects in a real case, the installation of practice rooms to ensure that the technology is used confidently seems wise.

One prosecutor was delighted that "If we catch a witness in a lie and sweat starts to form on his forehead, we can zoom in for a close-up." Some personal injury solicitors in the UK have worried that this may be focusing on presentation rather than fact.

This aside, however, if technologically advanced court rooms do reach the UK, it is possible that personal injury lawyers in this country may have to follow suit if they are to keep up with progress.
