Comic turned car accident victim seeks compensation

A noted American comedian has become the latest high-profile crash victim to sue for car accident compensation.

Actor, stand-up comedian and impressionist Darrell Hammond suffered fractured ribs and back injuries following a car crash in June this year.

Personal injury lawyers representing Hammond said the accident had affected his ‘ability to perform’, resulting in a number of cancelled performances.

"He can't fly and he can't stand up," the New York Post was told.

Hammond recently quit US television sketch show Saturday Night Live after a fourteen-year run, making him the longest-serving cast member in its history.

Now he is seeking road accident compensation from the drivers of both vehicles, one of whom is a personal friend.

As yet, Hammond's lawyers remain tight-lipped regarding this friend's identity, as well as the exact amount of car accident compensation sought.
