Fatal travel accidents in Turkey concern

No win, no fee solicitors have warned British holidaymakers of the need for travel insurance when booking a holiday in Turkey. This advice comes after a spate of high-profile holiday accidents in the country involving British tourists.

For example, earlier this year a 51-year-old British man died while parasailing in Turkey, and just last month a nine-year-old girl drowned in a rafting holiday accident.

Additionally, at the beginning of the year a British man died in a Turkish ballooning accident, while a number of UK residents have suffered serious or fatal personal injury as a result of car accidents in the country.

However, it is generally accepted that the Turkish legal system can be exceptionally difficult to negotiate and that court proceedings can be lengthy, often resulting in unsatisfactory holiday injury compensation settlements.

As such, UK personal injury lawyers agree that anyone holidaying in Turkey should ensure that they have comprehensive travel insurance and, where possible, book with a UK tour operator so that they have recourse to UK no win, no fee claim systems.

A holiday accident solicitor comments, "The Turkish tourism industry's record on health and safety is a real concern." Said Mr Danas, "A disproportionate number of the fatalities and serious injuries that we deal with each year have occurred at Turkish resorts, with many tourists not realising that health and safety measures will not be as rigorous as those within the EU."
