Following an Australian plane accident, passengers who suffered personal injury are reported to be preparing compensation claims against Qantas.
The passenger injury group is said to comprise ten people, one of whom is claiming more than $500,000 (approximately £200,000). This is unlikely to be the end of claims resulting from the flight, which fell more than a thousand feet while travelling between Singapore and Perth; fourteen occupants of the plane received serious injury, and 30 more received medical treatment.
One personal injury lawyer was quoted as saying, "There were some very serious injuries because of the dramatic nature of the incident, particularly for those at the back of the plane - they experienced a whiplash type experience."
Another described the sufferers as having "everything from soft tissue damage to back and neck injuries and acute anxiety disorders."
"I've had one inquiry from the family of a man who suffered a significant stroke, which they believe may be related to the injuries he sustained One is suffering severe anxiety, which may be post traumatic stress disorder."
Claims relating to this plane accident therefore have the potential to reach the millions mark.
