Solicitor contests injunction over withdrawn ad
A personal injury solicitor from South Carolina in the US is seeking compensation from a state panel on solicitor conduct after they made him withdraw a television commercial that promised to protect potential work injury compensation claimants' jobs.
In addition to this, the personal injury solicitor is also seeking an injunction against the South Carolina Commission on Lawyer Conduct to prevent them forcing him to make an official apology over the commercial.
The work accident compensation claim specialist commented that he is "not simply going to accept a public reprimand when I believe I've done nothing wrong".
He also cast doubt on proceedings that had been prompted by an anonymous complaint, saying, "You would think there wouldn't be a whole lot of consideration given to something where someone filed something and didn't have enough courage to sign their name to it."
The personal injury solicitor's commercial, which ran in 2003, said, "It's not your fault that you were hurt on the job. But I know you're afraid to file a job injury claim. You're afraid your boss won't believe you're really hurt or worse, that you'll be fired. We'll protect you against these threats and these accusations and work to protect your job."
