A Surrey grandmother who was forced to cancel a family holiday to Egypt after tripping on a loose paving stone in Leatherhead is to pursue a claim for personal injury compensation against Surrey County council after requiring hospitalisation as a result of her fall.
The 67-year-old tripped in Leatherhead High Street on August 9th and suffered a broken pubic bone.
The pensioner and her husband had been planning to join ten other members of their extended family at Sharm-el Sheikh, but her severe personal injuries meant that she was unable to travel.
She said, "The family are all really disappointed.
"They said they wouldn't bother to go any more but I told them not to be silly."
Speaking of the personal injury accident, the Fetcham woman said, "I am angry because it's not the first time people have said something about it. They seem to waste so much money on other things and don't do a good job on what they should be doing.
"Our neighbours have said that we can't let this go, we've got to do something."
The council have acknowledged that details of an accident in the High Street have been lodged with them, but refused to comment on the progress of any personal injury compensation claim.
