Families of the 228 people killed in the Air France Atlantic plane accident are to receive preliminary payouts of personal injury compensation.
Air France Chief Pierre-Henri Gourgeon said that personal injury compensation of around €17,500 would be paid to the bereaved for each family member lost in the disaster.
The airline will have to contact families in more than 30 countries in order make the payments.
Gourgeon also said that Air France would seek to organise a memorial for those killed. "The entire company was deeply affected by this accident, and remains mobilised," he said.
As the personal injury compensation offered is in no way a final settlement, families have been assured that it will not disentitle them the right to make no win, no fee claims in the future.
