A steel erector from the UK's North-East may be able to pursue a payout for whiplash, now that the Rover driver who hit him in a serious car accident has been found guilty of causing the head-on crash.
The worker was driving safely in his Vauxhall through an industrial estate, when the Rover driver, travelling in the opposite direction, overtook unsafely, hitting the worker head-on at a speed of 50 miles an hour. Both cars were written off in the car crash.
The steel erector had to spend four weeks off work sick after being cut from his vehicle, and has only been able to handle desk duties since returning. He has since been made redundant.
His personal injury, said his lawyer, includes tissue damage to his right arm and severe whiplash neck injuries, which means he may never work in his previous job again. If this is so, any compensation claim arising may be able to put the loss of future earnings into consideration, meaning that the payout for whiplash may be significant.
