A UK student who has only recently recovered from the passenger injuries he sustained in a terrifying bus accident is proving an inspiration to all by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro next month.
Before preparing to set off on his epic climb the 20-year-old told press of his passenger injury ordeal, "I was on a Kiwi Experience coach that was being driven down a steep, winding hill. The coach driver dropped his pen and when he leant over to pick it up he fell off his seat and pulled the steering wheel.
"We ended up falling about 40 metres off the edge of a cliff.
"It was terrifying. None of us had seatbelts on and I remember hitting my head on the roof. It knocked me out for a couple of seconds and then I woke up in a bundle of people.
"It's incredible that nobody died, but it was so quiet after the accident that I thought everybody had. But once the realisation of what had happened set in some people started screaming, and it was terrible.
"The driver was worried the coach was going to explode, so we were all clambering out of the window and up the hillside to get away."
Many of those onboard that day received passenger injury compensation, helping them to rebuild their lives after such a near-miss, but now the student wants to give something back, and has said that he hopes to raise several thousands of pounds for charity Childreach International.
