No win no fee lawyers take on cricket ball case

A London-based firm of no win no fee lawyers have taken on a case in which a woman is suing four youth cricket teams after she was hit on the head with a cricket ball.

The Telegraph reports allegations by the mother-of-four that a hard, outdoor ball struck her on the back of the head as she talked to the umpire between matches at an indoor tournament in Walthamstow, north-east London.

She claims she suffered concussion, which has left her with constant headaches; she also says she suffered a fractured jaw that required reconstructive dental surgery.

As the woman does not know which player hit the ball, her personal injury solicitor's have written to four local clubs that were taking part on the day informing them that she intends to seek compensation.

It is believed that there are witnesses who will contest a softer, indoor ball was being used, and a member of Ilford cricket club, of which the woman's son is a member, said that all cricket spectators should remain vigilant and watch the ball.

He said, "It is just common sense to take care that no one is going to hit you with a cricket ball. It is like when you cross the road, you look left and right."

According to the Ilford woman's no win no fee lawyers, she could receive as much as £25,000 compensation for a fractured jaw, £6,250 for damage to teeth and £7,000 for a minor head injury.
