Loose stones compensation hazard
A no win, no fee lawyer from Hampshire has spoken out about what he believes to be the unacceptably hazardous pavements in his hometown of Andover.
Although admitting that he is "in the business" of making accident compensation claims he said that he'd "sooner the accidents... did not happen". Furthermore, he warned that unless sufficient action was taken by Hampshire County Council, it would only be a matter of time before it faced a significant claim for damages.
However, the firm the no win, no fee lawyer works for has already agreed to represent two separate claims relating to accident injuries caused by loose paving stones on one notorious street.
The council has said that the repairs will be carried out where necessary.
"Further temporary repairs will be undertaken to make safe the situation and this will be followed by permanent repairs when the extent and details of the scheme have been finalised," said a spokesperson.
Adding, "Were this straightforward we would undertake a permanent repair at this stage but we need to do some ground investigation in order that we can solve this problem permanently.
"This winter has left a legacy of repair work needed and as soon as we have established a programme of priority work we will be in a position to provide specific dates for work to be undertaken."
And, according to the no win, no fee lawyer, the council needs to be quick about making the repairs otherwise a high-value compensation claim will be inevitable.
