Experts have warned that Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini may not receive a single penny of motorbike accident compensation for an incident that left him with multiple "life-changing" injuries.
The £40,000 a week goalie was travelling to Tottenham's training ground when his £11,000 BMW motorcycle collided with the Ford Fiesta of a 25-year-old mother. However, because of a clause written into his contract which stipulates that he is forbidden from using any form of transport that might put him at undue risk of suffering injury, solicitors say he may find it impossible to claim motorbike accident compensation from his club's insurers.
Harry Redknapp, Spurs' manager, commented, "I didn't know he had a motorbike - clubs certainly don't encourage players to have them. But now isn't the time for that. We just wish him a quick recovery.
"I'm just thankful he hasn't broken his back, his neck or is dead. I'm just relieved really."
The Italian, whose father was AC Milan's goalkeeper in the 1960s, is currently being treated in a private hospital for broken wrists and an injured pelvis.
It is not known if Cudicini intends to launch any no win, no fee claim for motorbike accident compensation.
