Man is left brain damaged in construction site accident

A 53-year-old construction worker, who suffered a serious brain injury in an accident at work, could be entitled to claim construction site accident compensation.

The man had been working at a hotel building site in Bristol for a lift supply and installation company when he was hit on the head by a scaffolding tube weighing 7lb.

The incident occurred when the scaffolding tube, which was being held up by piano wire, became loose and plummeted 18 floors to the bottom of the lift shaft, striking the man on the head.

The worker sustained serious head injuries from the accident and has been left permanently brain damaged. He requires 24-hour care.

The two construction companies working on the project both admitted breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and were later fined and ordered to pay court costs.

The victim and his family are currently pursuing a construction site accident compensation claim through the civil courts.
