Michigan man makes compensation claim against sister

A man who made a compensation claim against his sister after he was bitten by her cat has been awarded £60,000.

The ex-marine from Michigan was visiting his sister's house when he was attacked by her pet Siamese cat and said in court that the pain was more severe than being hit by a bullet in Vietnam.

He sustained a serious hand injury which caused his fingers to swell up so severely that they were described as looking like "plum hot dogs" by his personal injury solicitor.

Following the sudden attack he developed an infection which caused him to spend three weeks in a veteran's hospital, costing him 10,000 in medical bills and 6,000 in lost earnings.

With the help of compensation solicitors, he successfully made an accident claim against his sister's home insurers and was awarded a total of 60,000 for his compensation claim.
