Safari compensation for German man

Holiday accident compensation of Dh300,000 has been awarded to a German man who lost his wife when their family safari across a Dubai desert ended in a tragic vehicle accident.

However, as the court made the award as an interim settlement, it is possible that the final figure may rise to closer the Dh1.5 million demanded in the holiday accident compensation writ.

The writ detailed how the claimant and his two daughters have all endured significant emotional distress since the accident; and, as well as trying to come to terms with their bereavement, all suffered injury in the accident themselves.

The accident happened when the safari tour's driver lost control of his vehicle and careered off the road before colliding with a rock.

The holiday accident compensation bill will be shared between the driver who caused the accident and the insurer of the vehicle.
