Ferguson supports AA safety seat campaign

Just weeks after his grandson suffered personal injury in a car crash, legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson has lent his support to a car seat campaign.

The AA campaign, also supported by Britax and Mothercare, attempts to raise awareness of the safety benefits of using the right seat and fastening seat belts securely should a car accident occur.

Sir Alex said, "I urge all parents and children to pay attention to using and fixing their seat belts properly, over the shoulder as it should be. This can save your life."

Ferguson's grandson was injured in a road traffic accident near Macclesfield. His personal injury is believed to have been more serious than would otherwise have been the case as he had pulled the diagonal part of his seatbelt off.

The AA warns that August is the worst month for childhood car accident figures, with research indicating that 600 young children suffer serious accident injury in car crashes, and has therefore launched a roadshow to ensure the message is brought home to parents.
