LCD worker dies in fatal accident at work

A German woman has died following personal injury received in a serious accident at work in a liquid crystal display factory. A spokesperson for the large LCD screen construction company made a statement that a deflagration, possibly involving solvents, had occurred in their Darmstadt plant, which had led to the fatal incident.

A deflagration is a technical term for a fire, particularly one that is not an explosion (or detonation).

It is unclear what caused the fire, and the plant manager was swift to express sorrow and a commitment to having the incident investigated. The spokesman made assurances that the accident at work had been contained, and that no solvents had been released.

State prosecutors have launched an investigation into the fatal accident at work. No statements have been made regarding potential personal injury compensation claims.
