Award for hunt dog car crash

A woman in Ireland has received car accident compensation for an incident in which a hunting dog was hit by a car before ricocheting into her face.

Car accident compensation was sought for the fact that the 81-year-old was knocked unconscious in the incident, suffering knee, hip and head injuries.

She had got out of her vehicle so as to stand in the middle of the road and alert the hunters to a dog which had become disconnected from the hunt party and become a road hazard.

The judge, hearing the personal injury claim, ruled that the woman had been clearly visible at the time of the accident, had been fit, healthy and active before it, and had been clear and honest in her account of both the events of the crash and the injuries she had sustained.

The High Court judge awarded her €87,000 car accident compensation.
