UK boxer plans to beat whiplash neck injury... and next opponent

The UK boxer Tony Oakey has released a statement this weekend that his whiplash neck injury will not prevent him from fighting in his high-profile upcoming bout.

The British and Commonwealth title unification fight is planned for June 13th, and Oakey, 'the Leigh Park Warrior', promises to be fit despite the personal injury received in a stationary vehicle car accident.

Oakey described the car crash thus: "I was coming home from training in London and was stationary when a Transit van ploughed into the back of me. It sent me into a transit van in front of me. I was basically the meat in their sandwich.

"I've hurt my neck and got a bit of whiplash. But there is no way I'm going to let anything stop this fight going ahead."

His opponent has been claiming that he will be able to achieve a knock out within three rounds, but Oakey finds him less of a threat than the car crash injury, saying "Two Transit vans couldn't stop me - so what chance does Dean Francis have?"
