Snowdrop help for mesothelioma fund raising

The Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Fund has launched a new venture, the Snowdrop Fund. This aims to allow every person who loses a family member to this incurable asbestos-related disease to set up their own tribute fund to raise money toward research into the condition.

The widow who set up the overall fund says that "The reason we chose the snowdrop is it works hard through the depths of despair in the winter and come the spring it pushes through the ground as a beautiful flower, giving hope and promise to everyone who sees it."

The Fund hopes that anyone whose life is changed through exposure to asbestos will be able to set up a fund, with web space on the MKMSF site to promote it, and one mesothelioma widow has already taken up the offer. They believe that by pooling the money, more will be able to go into mesothelioma research than if each fund were administered individually.

The fund has already raised more than £300, 000 for UK research into asbestos-related cancers and asbestosis, and has campaigned to end inequalities in personal injury compensation claim payouts.
