Child car seat recall

A child car seat manufacturer has sought to avoid potential product liability claims by recalling the car seat bases of one of its models.

Concerned that the seat may not offer full car accident injury protection, the manufacturer announced details of the mechanical problem and advised those who own the affected models to stop using them; a vital step in avoiding a product liability claim for the manufacturer of any defective product.

A spokesperson with consumer advocate Which? commented, It's encouraging to hear [the manufacturer] has taken a responsible approach to this problem with their car seat base by issuing this product recall.

"Although it may seem inconvenient, we'd recommend all parents with [an affected model] have their base checked. This will ensure their child seat offers the intended protection and your child is carried as safely as possible."

Any consumer wishing to find out more about the recall should check the Which? website, which, as well as providing details of product recalls, is also a valuable resource to any person who is considering using a no win, no fee solicitor to make a product liability claim.
