Accident at work compensation claim news

Thai's hope to cut work deaths and injuries

The Labour Protection and Welfare Department of Thailand is attempting to reduce the numbers of fatal work accidents and work injuries in the country by 10%, while the Social Security Office's Workmen's Compensation Fund is hoping the action will see a reduction in the number of accident at work compensation claims made in the country.

The body responsible for handling the majority of accident at work compensation claims in the country said that they recorded a total of 204,257 work accidents in the last year alone, with many claimants being aided by the representation of personal injury solicitors.

Padungsak Thephasdin na Ayutthaya, head of the Labour Protection and Welfare Department, said that he believed the 10% reduction was attainable but that it would involve a concerted effort by employers to comply with workplace safety laws. Employers who fail to do so not only risk facing accident at work compensation claims but also risk incurring both a fine and a potential prison sentence.
