Mesothelioma, asbestos, and the Hidden Killer campaign

Mesothelioma is the most common deadly asbestos-related disease. Every week in the UK nearly 20 tradespeople in the UK die from the illness. The Health and Executive has put the tragedy of this into perspective by reminding the public that this number of fatalities far outstrips the numbers who die each month in road accidents in the UK.

Realising the gravity of this situation, the HSE has launched a campaign, Asbestos: The Hidden Killer, which will seek to educate tradespeople such as plasterers, electricians, carpenters and plumbers of the hazards they will face in their working environments.

Former England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright, himself a former plasterer, has added his voice to the campaign in the hope his celebrity will help raise awareness. "I used to be a plasterer before becoming a professional footballer and was really surprised to learn that the number of deaths is actually on the increase year on year. If that was footballers dying, the whole of the premiership would be wiped out in just three months," commented the goal-scoring legend.

"I can really relate to the situations tradesmen find themselves in and urge them to take care."

Steve Coldrick, HSE's director of Disease Reduction, explained why he believes the campaign is needed, "Exposure to asbestos is the biggest single cause of work-related deaths, with around 4,000 people a year dying from asbestos-related disease. The overall number of deaths is rising because a large number of workers who have already been exposed to asbestos dust around 40 years ago will go on to develop mesothelioma, a terminal cancer or other asbestos-related diseases."

100 percent compensation with cost free legal representation
Asbestos has caused the greatest industrial tragedy in the history of the UK workplace. Even today, years after the scientific world confirmed the substance's deadly effects, men and women continue to die.

If you or a member of your family have learnt firsthand the cruel legacy of asbetos, you may be entitled to claim compensation.

Although no amount of money will ever truly compensate for the loss of health or the loss of a loved one, it can help provide practical help in times of grief.

A good personal injury lawyer can help the mesothelioma claimant cover for such things as loss of earnings, medical expenses, as well as compensation for the pain and trauma of the disease itself.

The specialists on our panel do this on a basis that is cost free to the client. Win or lose, we ensure you will never be liable for any legal fees.

In addition, our 100 percent compensation promise delivers all winning claimants their settlements without any cuts.

To begin your claim today, or to simply receive some obligation-free legal advice, fill out an assesment form or call us now, on 0800 10 757 95.
