The procedure took less than an hour but it wasn't until the man awoke and was admitted to a recovery ward that the surgical error was discovered. A doctor came to give the patient feedback on how the procedure had gone and check that everything was as it should be. Before long, with horror, the doctor realised that the left testicle had been removed instead of the right.

When the doctor informed the young man of what had happened and told him that his cancerous testicle would also need to be removed, as originally planned, he was absolutely devastated. The young man and his girlfriend had discussed starting a family once he had recovered from cancer and now he would be left unable to have children.
