Gain compensation after an accident in a factory

Factories are renowned as being one of the most dangerous places to work due to the close contact employees have with hazardous machinery and heavy lifting equipment. Most accidents in a factory are preventable with good safety practices and many personal injuries sustained at work are due to negligence on the part of employers or employees.

In June 2010, a worker at a meat factory in Vernon, California lost both legs after they became stuck in the grinding machinery he was operating. The worker had fallen into the machine, which was used to chop up beef and other meats, when he was seriously injured.

Health and safety officials launched an investigation into the accident after the worker was left in a critical condition following the accident, losing both of his legs from knee down.

Fireman had to use heavy cutting tools to take apart the machine and pull the man out. The full circumstances surrounding the accident are unknown although it is believed that the worker may have been injured while trying to free the machine from a jam.

Although the accident happened in the U.S, factory accidents are all too common in the U.K as well. Failure to adhere to strict health and safety policies and providing adequate training can lead to a rise in personal injuries at work.

Your employers are responsible for ensuring your health and safety while you are at work. If they fail to provide a safe working environment and you or a fellow worker is injured, they could be liable for personal injury compensation.
