His case became difficult to pursue because his personal injury solicitor could not find witnesses who had seen him working with the deadly material. However, an appeal by a local newspaper asking for people to come forward to make statements that could be used in the case, proved of great benefit as four people contacted the paper and agreed to help in the mesothelioma compensation case.
The family's personal injury solicitor said that the witness statements made the case much stronger. It was hoped that a substantial compensation award would be made to the deceased man's family.
