Innovative treatment hope from the US
The festival season is well and truly underway here in the UK Glastonbury was absolutely mud-sodden but the music was rocking and rolling to the early hours. V Festival is on the horizon too, and the organisers will be hoping for much the same (well, maybe minus the mud bath). But, unfortunately, with music comes the threat of tinnitus and noise-induced hearing loss.
Whenever you go to such an event your tickets will have a health warning printed on them stating that the music will be loud and your hearing may be at risk. This is to cover organisers against any future personal injury compensation claims.
All that exposure to musical instruments played at high decibels can cause substantial damage to the cochlea and result in the continual ringing and buzzing that we know as tinnitus.
Famous musicians such as Pete Townshend and Sting are familiar with this work-place injury for which there is no cure. However, it seems that thanks to medical research there is hope for tinnitus sufferers such as these aging rockers.
Clear Products Inc has developed Clear Tinnitus, a scientifically proven combination homeopathic/herbal supplement that they claim cures tinnitus naturally.
This innovation from the US has undergone a human clinical study carried out by researchers from the Martha Entermenn Tinnitus Center, New York. A group of patients suffering from predominantly cochlear type tinnitus with a middle ear and central component made up the study's participants.
As reported by Clear Products Inc, the level of relief from tinnitus experienced with Clear Tinnitus, "reflects improvement in the sensory component of the tinnitus complaint by controlling the factor of aeration of the middle ears and improvement in Eustachian tube dysfunction.
"A statistical and clinical significance for improvement/maintenance in middle ear pressure (MEP) was established with tympanometry [a medical procedure used to test the condition of the middle ear and mobility of the eardrum and the conduction bones by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal]."
According to Godstein et al (2007), patients with severe tinnitus who used Clear Tinnitus reported relief from tinnitus symptoms as well as improvement in or maintenance of MEP of the middle ears.
