Speaking of her disease before she died, the girl said, "The cancer has made me braver in a way. It was pretty tough being diagnosed at such a young age and the surgery was really painful. I hope more can be done to understand this disease."
It is not known how the girl contracted the disease which usually takes 15-20 years to develop after exposure to asbestos usually from building works or heavy industry.
Since 1968, just nine people under the age of 19 have died from the disease.
