Road accidents, youclaim.co.uk

Reduce stress on the roads

These days the UK’s roads are often overcrowded and can cause considerable stress amongst drivers. With 22 millions vehicles on the roads this is no surprise. Stress can also increase the likelihood of being involved in a car accident. Fortunately however, there are measures that can be taken in an effort to reduce the stress of driving during rush hour. It is possible to make driving to work or driving in a city a more pleasant experience.

The team at YouClaim has devised some tips for a stress free drive in order to make our roads a safer place to be and reduce the risk of being involved in a car accident.

  • Change your attitude towards driving. Each time you get into the car visualise the happy stress free journey you are about to have. If you expect road rage and aggressive drivers then you’ll probably encounter them. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride
  • Think of your drive as a time to be by yourself and to reflect upon the day you are about to have or the day you are returning home from. This is a time when you can listen to the radio or your favourite music with no one telling you to change it
  • Plan your journey before you get in the car. If you are going somewhere you’ve not been before then check a map before you leave and find out about any potential traffic delays. Always allow yourself plenty of time for your trip, being late will just add to the pressure. Check out the AA website for journey planners and traffic information. http://www.theaa.com
  • Buy a scented car spray in peppermint or vanilla. These two scents will make you feel better by changing your mood. Peppermint will invigorate you and vanilla will calm you
  • Be tolerant of other people on the roads. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time and everyone has off days
